Mell and Will 3
Mell and Will three-in-one phonics book series are three story books of four or more words, including diagraphs and diphones for ages 4 – 5 The phonics books are especially designed for children who have just been introduced to reading. The books are categorized into three difficulty levels to afford the young reader easy access to understanding and reading the books. The books are designed in a graduated three different difficulty levels. They are good introductory books, introducing children to story reading.
By reading the books in this series, the child learns to blend quite a number of words. He/she learns to blend words with more than three letters. This will enhance their comprehension of, and reading in English language. When children learn to blend words, they tend to improve in their language development skills which they continue to develop at the language acquisition stage of their life; as word-blending gives them ample opportunity to read independently at their own pace. Thus, making it fun and interesting to pick books to read without being chastised to do so.
The foundation of any language is words. In the intellectual development of infants, the ability to generate an infinite number of meaningful sentences depends on the use of words and rules of the language. This is why child developmentalists agree that good language development in children is important in their educational achievements and advancement in life. Language enhances communication and understanding.
There is a critical period of language development which ends in childhood. Thus, reading phonics books is a great opportunity for children and a big component of their communication skill. Poor academic performances of many children can be related to their inability to comprehend what they are taught and also to read independently.
This third level in this series is “Mell can Cook.” It introduces the reader to the activities involved when young ones learn to cook. This level also introduces the reader to diagraphs and phonograms. The words in this series consists of four, five and six letters of the English alphabet.
In this level 3, the reader reads about how Mell can cook as she learns from her mom. The young reader meets such words as book, cook, food, good, happy, green, eating, learn, stool, stood, wants and many more words.
